Ossiculoplasty positioned via posterior tympanotomy.
Tympanoplasty now frequently uses cartilage to repair bone lysis in the external auditory canal (EAC) and to reinforce the tympanic membrane. Once in place, however, the cartilage may complicate ossiculoplasty by obstructing visualization of the stapedial region. Posterior tympanotomy, when included in the tympanoplasty procedure, may provide an interesting means of positioning the ossiculoplasty.

UNLABELLED The three well recognized tympanoplasty approaches: permeatal, postaural, and endaural, each have advantages and disadvantages. The permeatal approach is suitable only for ears with adequate canal size. The postaural approach limits visualization of the posterior eardrum margin. The endaural approach limits the view of the eardrum's anterior margin. This study describes a modified en...
متن کاملCan Paraconsistency Replace Non-Monotonicity?
In this position paper we reconstruct and evaluate three arguments by Jean-Yves Béziau put forward to show that paraconsistent logics may replace non-monotonic logics in the analysis of situations what the latter were created for, namely updating of databases by increment of information. As originally put forward they might seem too colorful or unserious and easily dismissible, but they really ...
متن کاملComparison of visualization of the middle ear by microscope and endoscopes of 30° and 45° through posterior tympanotomy
INTRODUCTION Endoscopic-assisted microsurgery of the middle ear enables the field of view of the surgeon to be expanded during the removal of inflammatory tissue from the tympanic cavity and during myringo- and ossiculoplasty. Canal wall up tympanoplasty with posterior tympanotomy is a gold standard in surgical treatment of chronic otitis media. Most applications of endoscopy in middle ear surg...
متن کاملCombined Instrument and Posterior-Assisted Levitation of Nuclear Fragments During Phacoemulsification after Posterior Capsule Rupture
Introduction: Rupture of posterior capsule is a challenging complication especially when the nucleus is still present in the eye. Retained nuclear fragments frequently cause sight threatening complications. Objective: To report the outcomes of a technique that implies the use of instruments in the anterior chamber and through pars plana to help delivery of fragments outside the eye together wit...
